Good-ish News
Only took a billion years, but I'm finally getting promoted!
The only complication is that I'll have to transfer to the new store but as I also found out today, Chris is going too! Our sagas can continue! >: ) We've already decided we're bringing Joey with us, haha.
I will mention that it's not *100%* definite yet. . .she still has to run it by Jim, but chances are he'll say okay. She *needs* people for the new place. I guess the people she's interviewed so far haven't been too promising, and although she knows she'll be getting 3 assistant managers, she hasn't met any of them yet! No one else from our store is coming along, but once she does hire cashiers, we'll be training them at our current store (and some will be trained at the Wakefield store). We're all going to need to be trained on running the new, fancier one-hour photo machine and of course, I'll need to be trained to do all the manager-type things like payroll and whatever else.
The only not so great part of this is that I *really* wished I lived closer. I will be getting a raise, but even working 40 hours a week, I don't know if I'll be able to afford my own place and everything else. I'm going to have to run this by my parents cuz I'm sure they'll agree that commuting from my current apartment to the new store will be kinda ridiculous to do 5 days a week. One I know for sure that I have the position, I'll have to start looking. . .
No other news today. Eating *had* been going well, but I ate a TON today. If you read this list and still insist that I don't eat "that much" I'm going to hit you:
(not in order)
a whole wheat bagel with peanut butter
a whole package of EL Fudge cookies
1 can of vegetarian chili with veggies, salsa, and cheese mixed in
a whole pint of B&J's frozen yogurt
2 soy sausage patties
a Chicken Alfredo Lean Cuisine
a whole package of Pepperidge Farms Soft Baked Oatmeal Raisin cookies
veggies, soyrizo, salsa, and lf sour cream
I'm still hungry. I'm considering making one of those packages of au gratin potatoes for later tonight! O_o;;
I'm willing to bet that between today and the past few days of slightly-more-than-usual fooding, I'm probably back at 125 or above. You know how they say that yo-yo dieting is bad for your health? I am so screwed. I go from 117ish to 125+ just about every month. No wonder why I have three different jeans sizes.

Congratulations! That's great news, guess you'll have to go take a look at those apartments by Brewed Awakenings if you are going to be working down in that section of Gansett! I have no idea how much they cost though? I keep meaning to stop over there, but school is kicking my ass right now and I don't seem to have a lot of "hey, I'll take a random drive around town" time lol.
Other bad element here, will you be able to stay in the IWW as a manager? They say no officially, unless you don't tell them lol. Hey, I'm going to start my own industrial union in the near future anyway with different rules and you can join that one haha.
haha, thank you, but I hope you're kidding about those Brewed Awakenings apartments! I probably could have afforded one if I had gotten that Target job, but I have a feeling they'd cost twice as much as I'll be able to afford right now. :/
And I should be able to stay in the IWW because I won't be in charge of hiring/firing anyone, which is how they define a manager in their constitution. I'm still pretty far down on the Brooks food chain, hehe.
I did spend a chunk of time yesterday reading up on starting one's own IWW branch and I think the hardest part would be finding enough people! It's a little lengthy to get into all of it here though, so. . .another time.
So many questions! haha j/k ;)
My lowly position is just "Shift Supervisor," so I'm *technically* not an Assistant Manager. . .though Lora basically has us all do the same things. All it really means is that I won't be stuck behind a register all day-- I'll probably spend most of my time setting up displays and otherwise doing most of the things I already do. I'll also have to do things like returns and counting the safe at the end of the night.
The store is right in front of the Stop&Shop plaza in Narragansett. Salt Pond or whatever it's called. The store won't be opening til April 6th, so I'll be at my current store in the meantime.
I'm not giving an exact amount, but I'll be making $2 more per hour than I am currently. Even working 40 hours a week though, I *doubt* it's going to be quite enough to live on still. Oh, well.
I'm not actually hoping to live in Narragansett or anywhere right near there, cuz you're right, everything's way overpriced down there. I would like to find something in NK or thereabouts, cuz I don't think prices would be as bad there. Anything that's closer than West Warwick would be good!
And believe me, if I could rent a place, apartment or condo or whatever, with 1 or 2 other people, I would! Unfortunately everyone I know seems content with their current living situations, so I guess I have to go it alone. >_< I absolutely refuse to place an ad for a random roommate after my horrible experiences at college, so that idea's also out!
My verification word is pretty meh: wpxuhjdk. :p
