Work News, House News
So, as I think I said before, Chris and Nick and I were to go see some houses today. All three of us were going to visit the 4 bedroom house and get to look inside, and then Chris and I would go check out the house in Bonnet in the afternoon.
I drove to Brooks and then Chris drove both of us to the realtor's, where we would be meeting Nick. Amanda was there too, so we all piled into Nick's car and then he drove us to the house. The realtor wasn't with us or anything, so we basically just knocked on the door and the guys currently living there let us look around.
It needs some cleaning, some fresh paint, and a few repairs, but we were rather impressed. The rooms are all pretty big, the kitchen seems fairly modern, the bathrooms are okay. I think we spent even more time looking at the backyard and the greenhouse than anything inside the house, haha.
As we were driving away, it was decided that as long as we could find a 4th person, we would definitely take it. Problem is, other people were scheduled to look at the place, and since it's in decent condition and in a decent location, it would be possible for us to lose the place if we didn't say yes today.
Well it's a good thing Amanda was with us, because she was almost immediately like "oh, I think Tim is looking for a place. . ." Tim is a cashier at my old store and he's about the same age as the rest of us. I can't say I know him too well, except that he's disgustingly good at bowling, but if his being the 4th person meant we could have the house, why not?
So, after saying goodbye to Nick and Amanda, Chris and I drove up to Bonnet to ask him in person. Much to our dismay, he could only give a tentative answer. Even though we'd only have to pay about $400 each, with utilities tacked on, he wasn't sure he'd be able to afford it, as he's currently paying off some hefty credit card bills. We were pretty dismayed, but while we were hanging out, Amanda showed up since she was working that afternoon. When she heard that Tim was leaning towards "no" due to the price, she came up with a great idea. There were several rooms in the house that could easily be transformed into small bedrooms, even if that was not their intended use. If Amanda *also* moved in and paid her share, we'd only have to pay a little over $300 each per month for rent! Yes, there are still utilities, but it's going to be a doable price no matter what.
So with that settled, Chris and I let Nick know (although both he and Amanda seem to have MAJOR trepidation about living together, which I STILL don't understand. . .they won't even be sharing a room. . .), we drove back to the realtor's and said that we didn't even need to visit the other house because we were going to take the one on Prospect. The lady gave us some reference check sheets to fill out and bring back in and since I don't think there will be any problems with that, the house is almost ours!
We already have ridiculous plans for things like what plants will go in the greenhouse and what exactly we want to put in the backyard. I already know Nick is bringing a cat, Chris is bringing his rabbit, and I plan on getting a hamster. Amanda said they were considering just using a dial-up modem, but I was like HELL NO, seeing as I live online. :p I clearly stated that we're definitely getting cable, if I have to pay for it myself, haha. I'm not sure what everyone else is going to be bringing furniture and stuff-wise (like pots and pans, etc), so I can't really go out and start buying stuff yet. But even if we do get the house, I don't think we'd be moving in til the very end of the month anyway, so there is time for us to sort this all out.
So that's the house news. In work news, Lora has heard that our DM is going to be expecting Nick and Chris and I to be on top of things since he supposedly gave us all larger raises than is the "standard." I was originally told I'd be getting a $2 per hour raise, but I certainly won't argue if it's more than that. As Chris said though, Jim's idea of a "generous" raise is probably 60 cents as opposed to 50. He's about right, and since we're supposed to be getting our raises with this week's check, should be interesting to see how it turns out.
I guess that's all for now. I'm thinking I should buy a bass soon, because I'm going to miss not having this one when I move out. I'm too chicken to go play around on the basses at Guitar Center though, especially now that I know I'm going to be swamped with guys the next time I'm in there. I wish I knew someone that was awesome at the bass, cuz I'm not and I don't plan on making a fool of myself. >;0
