Hell Week

doesn't end after college!

I swear, work has been awful this week. It's mostly because it's also our grand opening, so everyone has been coming in and using billions of coupons, most of which don't work. I've never done so many returns and refunds in my *life.*

And today was a complete zoo because 4 different people from the photo company were here, attempting to teach Nick and I how to run all the machines. This new one hour machine is ridiculous. I feel like I know what I'm doing now, but quite simply Nick and I (who are, right now, the only people that know how to use it) are NOT going to have the time to do as many rolls as we'll probably get. We're going to have to teach everyone else how to use it ASAP, or there are going to be problems. And when Nick asked if there was an possibility of us getting a full time photo person, the guy was like "oh, you won't need it! this machine was designed so we could have fewer people on the payroll." Ugh. And don't even get me started on his whole spiel about how not running the machine or not letting people drop off one hour just because we're busy is denying the company the $$ it "deserves" from those services. When we get to keep a percentage from every roll we develop, *then* come back to me with that arguement. Brooks isn't going to go under if we don't process film for one whole day. Bitch. v_v

Anyway! We also got scratch tickets/Powerball/other lotto things set up today, and we were so busy learning about the photo area that we didn't even get to learn any of those things. I don't even care. Lora will be there while I'm working Thursday and Friday, so she'll know what to do if I need help.

Then, another story.

I went to my old store tonight, hoping to get my check from last week so I could go to the bank tomorrow. I went up into the office with Joyce, and over to the bin that holds our checks. Mine wasn't there, but I knew that Nick had stopped by that store just a few days ago, so maybe he had picked up my and Chris' checks. But I didn't recall seeing any checks up in my current store's office, so I decided to check the sheet that everyone's name who got paid is listed on. . .and neither Chris' nor mine were on there. I asked Joyce if she knew anything about it, but she had no idea and didn't think Nick *had* picked up any checks when he visited. Hm. Since I was close by, I decided to stop by my store and ask Nick in person.

I drove over and immediately found Nick near the pharmacy, so I asked him if he had picked up our checks. He said that had, but he knew for fact that none of them had belonged to Chris or I. I knew that Chris had gone to Wakefield to pick up our cashiers' checks that had been sent *there,* so I decided to give him a call and ask if either mine or his had been there instead. I called, and he said what I had figured, that neither of our checks had been at Wakefield, and he had just assumed that they had gone to our old store. When I told him that was not the case, he also became a little concerned.

I went up into the office to poke around a bit, but Lora was still there, so I told her what the situation was. She also had no idea what was going on, and said that whoever was working tomorrow morning (chris) would have to call the payroll department and ask them. There is no reason why Chris and I should not have received a check for this past week. I called him back to tell him what Lora said, and the only thing he could think was that maybe we had finally gotten our raises/"official" position changes and for some reason that messed things up. Who knows. Chris said he'd call after he finds out what's going on from Payroll, so hopefully things will work out. And Lora said that if he didn't get anywhere with them, to give her a call so *she* could call them, even on her day off, and set things straight. Meh. At least this is a ratings boost, if not in a good way. :p

Good things to today: I did manage to open the store without any incidents, I dyed my hair darker brown (hey, Joyce even noticed the difference!), and Entenmann's devil's food cake with marshmallow frosting. Mmmmm.
