Just When I Thought

that maybe I was in the clear job-wise, I got a rejection email from Target this morning. It didn't say *why* they didn't want me, and I'm pretty sure it's just a stock email that they send to everyone who doesn't make it at some point during the interview process.

Now I thought that the guy who interviewed me said that I'd still be considered for regular in-store jobs, but this doesn't mention that. That's kinda too bad, because I figured Target could always be my "fall back job" if nothing else worked out (cuz I KNOW I'm more than qualified to say, be a single department supervisor). So now I feel like I'm stuck without any backup plan, cuz I wouldn't even know who to call to ask that I be considered for a regular position-- my application went to one of the corporate offices, not any of the stores around here. Then that *also* raises of the question of if I could just go to one of the stores near me and fill out a regular application in the store. . .would they see that I'm already kind of on file? If worse comes to worse and I continue to not find any work, I might have to try doing that just to see what happens.

I guess I'll try applying to this Houghton Mifflin job, although the offer as been posted for awhile and with my luck, has probably been filled. Otherwise, I'm back to square one.

I bet you are still up for other in store jobs as the guy mentioned. You probably just didn't get this particular job, and the stock e mail they sent out wouldn't say that because well, its just a stock e mail and not specific.

Well, try not to worry about it to much, see if that Houghton Mifflin job is still up, and if not, it might be worth going to their site to see if they have any other writing related jobs. As I always say, good writing is a skill you have, so these kind of places are a good place to look.

In fact I went ahead and looked up Houghton Mifflin for you! They have several various editing/assistant editor jobs open, along with many more.

well thank you for your effort! haha ;)

I will probably end up applying there for something, but I still need to spruce up my resume. I basically have all the info on it, but I think I want to take it to career services during their walk-in hours to have them help with its format. Rich showed me his own resume, both before and after he had them check it out and they really helped his a lot. I'm hoping they can do the same for me!

Job hunting is a weird game - lots of action, followed by long periods of waiting, always the knock backs.

Good thinking on the resume improving. I think that's the way to go. Keep building on your job hunting skills and assets. After a time you level up enough and the job appears.
